Now after almost 15 days observing the MCO (Movement Control Order), Covid-19 has impacted many businesses. Out-Of-Home advertising was not spared and has taken quite a huge direct beating. With tremendous reduction in traffic out-of-home (on road and malls) and a sudden shift in media consumption habits,, this meant no ROI for advertisers. Fact.
The rising Covid-19 statistics create panic and anxiety amongst individuals and businesses. The sooner the statistics drop and with MCO order lifted, the quicker businesses can resume and rebound. In order for this to happen, people need to #stayhome as advised (excluding our highest respect for the heroic frontliners in medical and essentials)
But reality is we can be a stubborn bunch. It's ridiculous to still see people are still out and about with their daily routine (benefit of doubt given). We wanted to do something instead of being keyboard warriors. We can't force them to stay home but the least we could do is to knock some sense in them, through repeated reminders when they are out of their homes.
We are all in this. Something, anything but has to be done -quick.
We united our business partners to run a series of "nagging" ads across 200 digital screens key Klang Valley (where it recorded the highest number of cases) roads to remind everyone out there to please #stayhome. Unlike any ordinary ad, this unique ad will be "naggy" and "annoying" at different levels, changed frequently.
We are also taking this MCO to review our business solutions to come up with "stimulus" low-cost advertising offerings that will help local SME businesses rebound and get their brands to stand out when the MCO is over. We are even more driven to serve SME businesses to better navigate & rev-up their marketing efforts to catch up on the loss of opportunities in these challenging times.
Stay strong everyone!
